Default Casting Bubbles?

Anybody use these to fish flys on spinning gear in moving water (ie: The Bow)? Opinions? Tips?

If you are referring to "thingamabobbers" they are too light! Most people that I know that chuck flies with spinning gear use slip bobbers... Lots use wire sjw (san juan worms) under a bobber for whities!! I would think that you would want some pretty heavy weight to get your fly (ies) down quickly...

I just use the adjust-a-bubble bobbers that you fill with water. Provides decent weight for casting distance and helps when it comes to a proper retrieve.

They work fine. As has been said just experiment on how much water to put in. I have never used more than about a eighth to a quarter full.
When casting it, stop it short before it hits the water so fly goes past bubble and doesnt get hung up on it. Thats the only problem i had at the start before i figured it out. I put the bubble on with thinest/pointy end toward the rod. It doesnt make as much wake that way if your reeling it in slowly.

I ahve used them in still water, and they worked well, not sure about moving water though, id' think you would need a longer rod, with my fly rod I typically run a min of 9' of leader under the indicator.

A slipp might be better but I don't know if they go down properly in current as well.

Thanks for the advice! I tried a casting bubble, full of water, in the Bow and Uberfly was right, too light for moving water. Ended up putting a 1\4 oz slip sinker above a 4 foot leader instead...fished way deeper. I could see the casting bubble being awesome in still water though. (Or I could finally learn how to fly fish).

I've done well with ajustabubbles on the Bow, but only below carseland, 6ft leader, bubble 7/8 full of water and copper johns and hares ears are money, 8ft 6 inch Shimano Clarus med action steelhead rod paired with a Shimano Stradic3000fi reel, i can cast as far as i want, however the further out you are the harder it is to set the hook on this rig without breaking off as most fish hit 45 degrees downstream and slam hard, i use 6lb flouro leader so those carseland pigs can be a challenge to not break off as they run hard and test your gear, i also echo the comment about flipping your bail right before your cast hits the water to avoid tangle, i also count to 10 before i begin reeling to give the nymph time to sink below the bubble.

Its different and i laughed at the guy who showed me,but success never lies and this method practiced can and will produce fish in all types of water, i ALWAYS have some bubbles with me, nothing like chucking a fly 100 yards and reaching spots once thought to be out of reach via the fly.

i also use this method and have great success. however the issue i had was i always bought the smallest size and in various colours of clear, green, red and when i use a red casting bubble with a fly i found the fish struck at the casting bubble more than the fly so i changed over to a clear one and did better. not really sure what the red bubble represented in its natural food but who knows. maybe i should put a hook on the casting bubble instead.lol

BWAAHAHA fishing a small stocked trout pond in BC i used to fish, in front of 30 plus witnesses a blue crane follows my cast across the pond and grabs my bubble (clear are the only ones i use) and takes off in full flight!! All i could do was loosen my drag all the way off, just before he spooled me now across the pond and into the forest i gave a slight pull hoping he'd let go before he got whiplashed and managed to pull it free, lost the fly but recovered the bubble nearly 300 yards later through the trees and across the water, i'll never forget that.
