Default Ideas for engraving the caliber on a new barrel

Gents,

Looking for ideas on engraving the caliber on a new barrel.

To make a long story short, I had a Browning A-Bolt II stainless stalker in .243 re-barreled and chambered for 338 Federal by a gunsmith and good friend. The barrel came from KS Arms contoured the same as the original Browning barrel since I wanted the rifle to look stock when done. My friend stamps his builds with the rifle caliber but I was looking for something a bit different. Not that I didn't trust my friends ability with a stamp and hammer but being a machinist myself I've done a fair bit of work with stamps in the past and I was never quite satisfied with the outcome. That might speak more to MY abilities...lol.

Looking for ideas. Not totally sold on the laser etching but I wasn't sure if anyone around had the means to cnc mill lettering on a contour like a barrel.

Why didn't you get KS to do it? They did a fine job putting .338 Federal on mine.

I would imagine the engraving was done after the barrel was installed. That may still be an option. It looks great TC so I’d be more than happy with that.

"Metal Mark" in Edmonton will do a flawless job if you would like to add this to the cost of fitting up new a barrel. I always used letter stamps in a jig to do mine. D.H.
