Default Stolen Rifle

Good morning,
I am posting a request for a friend of mine that recently had a rifle stolen, and would like it back.

The gun that was stolen was a custom Walther KKJ .22 Long Rifle. It has a custom stainless 24" barrel stamped with RKS, the barrel has a left hand gain twist. It is missing the main clip, and has no scope or site blocks.

If you have any information, please PM me, and I can forward it to him as he is offering a reward with no questions asked.

I hope your buddy gets his rifle back but you should be aware that is actually illegal to offer a reward no questions asked. Its a stupid law but its still a law. I would hate to see your buddy get in trouble over it.

Quote:
143 Every one who

(a) publicly advertises a reward for the return of anything that has been stolen or lost, and in the advertisement uses words to indicate that no questions will be asked if it is returned,

(b) uses words in a public advertisement to indicate that a reward will be given or paid for anything that has been stolen or lost, without interference with or inquiry about the person who produces it,

(c) promises or offers in a public advertisement to return to a person who has advanced money by way of loan on, or has bought, anything that has been stolen or lost, the money so advanced or paid, or any other sum of money for the return of that thing, or

(d) prints or publishes any advertisement referred to in paragraph (a), (b) or (c),

is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

Wow, I did not know that, and nor did he. I will let him know the law on this. Much appreciated, thank you.

Good tip.
Heaven forbid the subjects try and do something just in this colony.

I can only speculate but I would guess it is to prevent someone from intentionally stealing something when he knows a reward will be offered in order to collect the reward. I guess this would be fraudulent theft

I'm curious if anyone has actually ever been charged with that law?

Read the legislation for Pete's sake. It is NOT illegal to offer a reward, it is illegal to say no questions asked, criminal won't be pursued etc.
