Smile RCAF Major charged - CBSA seizes prohibited guns

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottaw...rges-1.7028925

Quote:
The Canada Border Services Agency says these firearms were among guns seized by officers following an investigation into Maj. Kendrick Barling from the Royal Canadian Air Force. (Supplied by Canada Border Services Agency)

A major with the Royal Canadian Air Force faces a long list of charges after border officers seized more than a dozen prohibited firearms and allegedly found undeclared guns "hidden" among his belongings when they were shipped back to Canada.

Maj. Kendrick Barling returned to the country in August after being posted in the U.S. for five years, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) wrote in a news release.

His household goods were shipped through Canadian Forces Base Trenton where "numerous undeclared firearms were discovered hidden throughout the shipment," it reads.

Barling is charged with five counts of smuggling goods into Canada and two counts each of making false statements and importing goods without a permit.

The Major also faces nine counts of importing a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, nine counts of unauthorized importing of a firearm and two counts of contravening transportation regulations.
I'm guessing he doesn't have his PAL...

"Hundreds of magazines, including AR-15 over-capacity magazines."

What an idiot.

haha over-capacity... lets be honest, 30 round mags for AR platforms are pretty much the standard and most common magazine out there. Sure there's 20s and 10s, but by far 30 is the most common so time for them to just be called what they are, "Standard-Capacity".

Yessir, shooting 30 rounds full auto more than 3x the fun of a 10 round. I'm frugal by nature, but full auto cost me lots in Scottsdale. lol

Man, that’s gonna cost him! Apparently he’s an accomplished competitive long range shooter. If he thought the inconvenience of filing the mountain of paperwork for all of those & pinning the magazines was too much of a PITA, he’s discovering the hard way that it would have been much preferable to the consequences/expense & loss of firearms he’s faced with now.

I imagine he brought many of those with him when he moved there 5 years ago, I wonder if he even filed temporary export certificates for them then? How would that even work with anything affected by the OIC if one did have a temp export certificate & all the paperwork 100% with both sides of the border?

Is he that stupid, or that arrogant, or both, to think that he would get away with this?

Maybe he wasn't aware that our gun laws have really went to crap in the 5 years that he was gone?

I think that might be his best defense.

Over capacity magazines, what a joke. Pretty soon all rifles will be single shot only. And magazines will be illegal.

Including hunting magazines

Won the Queens Medal, a few times... That's him in the chair.

I see some articles posting a new pic, of guns they found... But if you go by the amount of guns the articles say they found, the number of guns doesn't jive.
