Question Squirrels

Hi folks, my spouse here says that squirrels are illegal to hunt here unless you are trapping, and that they are a fur bearer. Is this true? Im going over the regs here...

You can shoot/trap them on private property.

If I read the regs right, certain squirrels are huntable such as a grey squirrel. Don't quote me on that tho.

This has to be one of the most idiotic rules in Alberta. Squirrels... AKA TREE RATS... whose population has 10 billion are protected on crown land. UNREAL!!

They were a valuable fur bearer at one time. They were used as jacket liners and vests.

Not so much anymore. The rules haven't caught up I guess. The food source for martin makes sense
