Default Trapping Fox With Live Trap

Well, my Daughter's cat got out of the house at the farm the other night and has disappeared. I had a look around today and found multiple fox tracks and well worn trails in a small patch of bush near the house. I even flushed a fox out of the bush today. They have a couple of dogs so snares are a no-go and I'm not crazy about catching one of the dogs in a foot hold unless I absolutely have to use them.

What does a guy have to know about catching a fox in a Havahart live trap (ie. best bait, etc) other than what's posted on their website here:

I know a farmer that caught about a dozen of them that way.
A fox hanging around the farm yard isn't afraid to go in and under things around buildings so a live trap sounds like the perfect thing for you situation.

I’ve caught a few with a live traps. I baited it with cheap sliced ham. Placed the trap next to an building or something that the fox has traveled by before. Take some ham toss a few small pieces around the trap and then a couple slices under a rock inside the trap at the back. The fox will work for the ham and trip the door. They are very easy to trap when they are use to being around people.

Thanks fellas. Going to Peavey Mart today to pick up an X-Large live trap and give it a go. I’m guessing that I’m going to have to bait it in the evening so the birds don’t steal all the bait. Should be fun.....I’ll see how it goes.
