It's probably not possible for everyone, but the current massive uptick in cases in the US is from non essential exposure. Everyone can avoid bars, restaurants,
crowded beaches, rally's, and protests if they choose.

That is correct. They can choose to do so. There isn’t much you or I can do about that.

YOU can choose to, if you want. Others will do what they want.

Of course they will. You cannot stop someone from doing what they will do. And that includes going to work to feed their family and pay the rent.

This whole thing reminds me of grandparents telling their kids how to parent from afar. Memories are obviously short.

The government can however. Canada, unlike the US, will close down again if people aren't careful and the numbers start to go up.

Florida’s per capita death rate due to COVID is 32% lower than Canada, so let’s not be too proud of ourselves in Canada.

In other Florida news:

Man eaten by shark. Official cause of death, Covid 19.

Coronavirus Explained on Netflix is a good watch. The second episode explains how a vaccine has challenges that are almost impossible to achieve. Once one is created, it wont be possible to make enough samples to get herd immunity to 60%.

Interestingly enough the number of hospitalizations and deaths are dropping like a rock now in Minnesota. People are out everywhere as if nothing happened.
looking forward to some true numbers on ages and residency of victims in the outbreak areas.

Lincoln County in Oregon has made it mandatory for all white people to wear masks in public. Non whites are exempt because making them wear masks could add to racial profiling...

I’m just sitting back crossing my fingers the govt. doesn’t shut things down and
and make folks hide under the covers again.

Hopefully once we are out of this it will be a wake up call to those that should lose weight, exercise and eat properly. A second chance if you will.

This is incorrect.

Was on the phone with friends that actually live there when we were a couple weeks into school and other assorted shut downs here in Canada. Planes were still landing and tourists were still coming into hotel rooms in NZ at that time.

Just remember this is what Americans and their leaders wanted. BLM protests. Political rallies. Unlock us. This is fake. Cut the testing rates to drop our covid numbers.

Glad I live a littlel further north.

No they didn’t. I had a friend land there after the US and Canada “shut down”

Viruses have a more prominent adhesion ability in cold weather, they are very impaired in warmer climates. This is why winter is flu season and not summer.

I always said that the flu etc is always there but will spike once winter comes because now we are all closed in for the most part due to the cold temperatures...never got sick until the kids went back to school...then we would have a few days/weeks of flu, colds etc....wait till cold temps come and if we are still battling this covid and do not keep mitigations in place well here we go again.....

And Australia was also extremely successful without the major lockdown. The common approach that lead to success was controlling international travel early. It did make it easier with the lack of land borders. Have friends and family in both countries

Neither country has eliminated Covid19 but instead have eliminated the big factor that starts the outbreak. With both these countries having very big tourism industries will in time relax their borders. If a vaccine is not available they will be more susceptible.

Great job with prevention taking steps to prevent Covid from taking hold but if this is a virus that a vaccine is not possible and natural immunity is the only option there could be future issues.

Presently controlling international travel has proven to be by far the most effective method in preventing an outbreak from happening. When we are talking long term future regarding Covid19 no country has eliminated the virus and can see an outbreak. We still have no proven effective vaccine. All that has happened is we are hiding in bubbles be they individual size or a whole country

Claiming success in any country is too early because it is not over yet and there is no vaccine or herd immunity

And that is why we are going to have a horrible winter, it may be at bay to a point with the good weather, but that only lasts 15 minutes in Canada
