Default Athabasca River

Hey,

I will going going on a canoe trip with a few friends on the Athabasca, we will be launching at Hinton and getting out at Whitecourt.

It is a late summer/early fall trip so hopefully the river will be cleaned up by then. I've done some generic google searches about the species in the river.

Just curious if anyone that has fished it could tell me the main species in that stretch of water.

Thank you.

I paddled from Hinton to Emerson Lakes (about 1/2 way to Whitecourt) last year. Did well on Rainbows and Bulls. My brother caught a really good Bull.

Couple of grayling as well. Watch for deep pools, inflow creeks, and seams to cast into.

Enjoy!
