There is no one I know of factory loading 400 grain ammo. Bullets in that weight are available from Rhino but I do not know of a Canadian vendor, you would have to special order them . Woodleigh makes 4 versions of the 350 grain form soft point, soft point tough and solids. Tradex sell Woodleigh.

That answers the question you asked but I might suggest you try the Barnes TSX in 270, 300 and 350 grain. They are more easily found, will penetrate as well as the heavier Woodleigh, better velocity out of the two lighter bullets and flatter trajectory and 98% weight retention. They also regularly shoot under and inch, which the Woodleighs are usually hard pressed to match.

What is the twist rate on your 375? I can't imagine most factory 375's would stabilize a projectile that heavy, no matter what profile.

I sort of guessed that or there would have been no interest in the heavy for caliber bullets. Certainly don't need them for North American game.

For what you can get here to take with you I would seriously look at the Barnes in a weight and configuration appropriate to the game. With a little work you can get the 350 and 270s to hit at the same spot at 50 yards and within an inch and a half of vertical at 100. After that the 270 grain will be a LOT flatter. Hornady also makes a very good solid for the 375.

The Rhino's are made in South Africa so you should be able to get your PH to pick you up some that you can bring home and load for your next trip. There is no import limitation on how many projectiles you can bring back, except for GST and Duty if you are over your spend limit. Have a great trip.

I just came back. See the thread in the hunting section.

My 375 killed 9 animals including an Eland. All would have been one shot kills if the fella killing the eland with my gun would have let the eland fall over in his own time. He gave him another for insurance as he started to lean over sideways.

I used a 270 grain TSX in a midrange load. Shots ranged from 45 - 250+ yards. Every animal but the Zebra fell within 15 steps. 5 of them fell straight down and never twitched! The bullet recovered from the Eland weighed 269.5 grains. The shot was around 175 yards or so.

I wouldn't bother with anything bigger personally.
