Thumbs up Interesting CWD Developments

The video is a little dry, but the information (if correct) is staggering:

This has one hell of a lot of potential implications for what is occurring in so much of North America

Crossing Fingers & Hoping!!

Maybe now the insanity will end and science will prevail.

I agree that this could be good news about "prion diseases". However, it is not new. See, for example, Bastian F O (December 1979). "Spiroplasma-like inclusions in Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease". Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. 103 (13): 665–69. PMID 389196. They have been working on this for a while.

There are a number of other theories about the causes of these diseases. I don't recommend it as the only source but Wikipedia has a good list of primary sources.

I think that the majority of workers in the field lean towards prions as the most likely agent. Perhaps they will be proven wrong. We can hope for treatment or immunization in any case.

If it is a bacteria, you could isolate the bacteria and then infect a prion-free model with that bacteria to test the hypothesis. That should not be difficult to do.
So where is this evidence? is it reproducible?

Not too hopeful about this idea

True this. And I suspect that is exactly what they are looking at now.

Perhaps this is not as it appears, but time (and I know that clock is ticking) will tell.

I am also quite aware there are a host of other scientists working on the CWD issue.
For the sake of our ungulates & more, I very with them ALL The Very Best in this pursuit!!

Another potential here:

U of A scientists found a property in soil that help prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease, a fatal illness that affects white-tailed deer (pictured), mule deer, moose, elk and caribou in North America.

Here's hoping one or more of these studies pin down The Answer soon!
