Default A new trophy lake discovered

Guys/Gals,

For many years I fished Struble Lake near Rocky Mountain House for the large Rainbows that once existed there. But the size shrank and shrank so I wandered elsewhere. Well, this year I thought i should give it another try.
Holy Crap - is it GOOOD. There are so many fish i can catch them 3 at a time. Mind you, I've smoked cigarettes longer but still - what a fishery. The Alberta Govt does us Proud.

You'd fill a pan pretty quick with those little fellas if you keep catching 3 at a time!!

It’s a tragedy

Can we afford to lose more trout waters. The Rocky area is now up to 6 or 7 lakes screwed.

They should throw tiger trout in there and see if they develop a taste for perch.

This type of technique was tried in Phyllis with brown trout. Total failure. Not enough food in the lake left to grow the trout to minnow eating size.

Throw them in when they’re 10-12 inches and no retention until they get up to say 18 or so. I thought tigers were also more aggressive than browns

Looking at the lastest stocking report I see they put a 1000 tigers into Star lake which has had a perch problem for a couple years now. We will see soon enough if they have an appetite for perch. Will be interesting to see.
