Default October fishing on the Blackstone

Hi all:

Anyone do some late season fly fishing on the Blackstone? What hatches (if any) are going on that you might know of? What is producing on the river at this time of the year? I know that the bulls are starting to run, so streamers will be a producers, but I am not the best streamer fisherman. Any help/feedback is appreciated, trying to get out one last time this year.

I fished it in October awhile back and if your looking to catch some cutties then your best bet will be nymphing. Bead headed prince or hares ear. Just spent the last week fishing the oldman and this was the major producer. We got a few on small duns when they were rising but. You can pretty well sight fish at this time of year as they will be mostly holding up in big pools.

I know a couple years ago when the weather was still this warm, this late, I was doing very well with small hopper/large ant imitations. I was fishing the canyon section when this was happening. Hard to get to, but worth it in the end.
