I got home late a few nights ago.
I only had time for a drive, no hunt.
I still wanted to check in on deer movement.

I saw a young buck barreling across a field at about 4:15.

Many does and fawns moving early.

The only big buck I saw was standing behind a house at about 5:45.
He's old. He's big. And he's smart.
I've watched him now for four years. Never, ever had a doe with him.

Default NOV 1st.

Nailed a small bow zone WT buck on the Nov. 1st. Was full draw on a doe waiting for her to step into my lane. Then this guy walked out under my tree and caused complete and udder chaos. Does and fawns blowing and running all over the place! Needless to say I lost total composure, eventually clean miss on the doe, then I sat back down in disappointment.

He was ready and chasing, does didn't want anything to do with him.

He then returned at about 31 yards on the treeline about 4 or 5 minutes later to commit suicide.

Having 5 mins earlier letting him walk, the devil on my shoulder kept repeating "don't pass on a buck the first day you wouldn't shoot on the last day..."

The angel on my other shoulder then reminded me that the devil was right... and reminded me that any bow kill is a trophy, and I don't have many days left to hunt. Center mass from 31 yards, downhill and the rest is history - sausage is on the way!

After a lack luster hunting season for moose and elk, this is the 2nd kill I've managed to chaulk up with the new HOYT. Turned out to be an exciting and refreshing evening, not 5 mins from the house.

I'll carry a camera when I go back to try for a doe - as NOW a bruiser will likely walk out... I'll be forced to shoot him with the camera. lol.

May your arrows fly straight and you find a monster buck fellas! The big boys will be out in daylight, stupid switch engaged in about 7 days and counting.

*Sorry about the poor Iphone pic...I think maybe this fella flicked his tail when the flash went off or something...?
