Default Mop (er, micro fiber body) Flies

Anybody tying Mop flies this winter? Would be interested in seeing or hearing about some patterns for the local trout potholes.

One "Dragon Mop" I'm going to test this year:

Hook: Size 6 or 8 2X long wet fly
Tail: Grey mop, shank length, tied in above the point
Body: Olive or Black UV Brill
Hackle: Black

Sorry, haven't a clue how to post pics!

I did a few last year. One was from an ugly pink mop from the dollar store.

I tied that one while my buddy was laughing at me after an hour or two of unsuccessful fishing, first cast... cuttie, he couldnt believe it. Personally I think it was a fluke catching it on that mop, but I didnt say that.

But I want to tie up some white ones. They would look like big fat grub or cutworms.

Buddy of mine uses a pink mop when times get desperate and it seems to work. He tried it through the ice last weekend, and it definitely drew a lot of attention from the rainbows

I think the trout mistake it for an egg sac

Had never heard of mop flies!

Thanx for the heads up.
