Default Fly Fishing Canoe

Hi All - I am looking for a used starter canoe to fly-fish some small lakes in BC and AB that lack boat launches. I was am only looking to spend between $300-$400 and was looking at something like a Coleman Ram-X 15 or a Sun Dolphin Mackinaw 15. I am really only going to be using it for fishing, no long trips. Does anyone have a canoe within this price range available for sale or know of a good used/rental store that has some canoes on end of season clearance? I am interested in hearing about any other options you all may have used to access small lakes (except for float tubes, I need seats for at least 2). Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Andrew.

You may wish to consider fishing kayaks. Some are quite stable, and easier to manage solo than a canoe. Generally smaller and lighter than a canoe, better in wind, and easier to put on top of your vehicle or in the bed of your truck.

Kayaks are my preferred single person watercraft, but for 2 people, a canoe is probably better.

...also more expensive than what he's looking to spend.

The old Colemans were good tough canoes, should be able to find one in good shape pretty cheap.

Thanks for the replies, All. Yes, canoe is definitely what I am looking for. I do very little solo fishing and if I do, I use my float tube. I found a Coleman Ram-X 17 for $400 and an old fiberglass one that needs new coat of paint for $80. Anything I should know about buying fiberglass vs plastic? I assume plastic (Coleman) is zero maintenance, but heavy and glass is some maintenance, but lighter and less prone to any warping?

Fiberglass is heavy...easy to repair though.
