Default where are all the fish?

i have just got back from a few hours on the elbow off of hwy8. what amazing water, great runs and deep pools. swarms of mayflys on the water and in your face but not a fish to be seen rising for drys or nymphs. where have they gone? anyone with any tips would be great before the end of the season.

the only place i have had great fishing this year is in Fernie, BC. All my favorite streams this year have proven to be very low on producing anything good.

Elbow is fairly hard to fish, but when you find fish they are more than willing.

The spot you fished gets hit hard all summer, try a different location.

Default elbow

It's crazy but I have been fly fishing for almost 30 years and have only fished the elbow twice. So i really don't know where to go yet. I found some nice water near Bragg creek and maybe I can get there before the season ends. I know it's taboo for most fishermen to not give advice ( which I think is ridiculous) but any help would be great. I ONLY Practice catch and release.

that section is usually tough for trout have caught a lot o white fish in that area and they are running upstream now. That area, highway 22 crossing and any where near a campground worst fishing in this river. If you can get away from people there are a lot I fish to be caught and some big ones. My biggest bull came out of the elbow

I found the best places to fish on the elbow were the pools. Usually took a few casts but always ended up landed a fish.

I guess I just need to get back there and keep searching. It's a great looking river.

Lots of structure to fish there.

Dredge the bottom IMO.
