Default Mid air collision Dallas air show

Eight hours ago. Wings Over Dallas air show at the Dallas Executive airport.

Footage shows the aircraft colliding at low altitude, breaking one of the aircraft in half. A fireball can be seen as it hits the ground.

The planes - one of them a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress the other a P-63 Kingcobra - were taking part in a commemorative air show near Dallas.

Six people are believed to have parished in the crash.

Horrible, condolences to the families of the victims, human error or mechanical failure, we may never know

Unhappy

Absolutely horrible, worked 14 airshows and only witnessed one crash and I tell ya it is brutal how a beautiful day just turns tragic with so many watching.

Condolences to all.

It will be called human error, but in an air show situation, it's only too easy to do. Two more irreplaceable historical aircraft destroyed as well, not really an uncommon event when you come down to it.

It’s being speculated that the p-63 cobra pilot had lost sight of the B17 below the cobras engine cowling, at least until it was too late.
Which does seem to make sense from the video footage.
My prayers for the families who lost loved ones.

Holy K-RAP. Two highly experienced pilots have just left their families. Heart felt sorrow goes out to all. An air show when it goes right is an awesome sight to see. This is heart breaking. They do maneuvers to show skill and precision for the entertainment of others.

Years ago I saw the “masters of disaster” aviation stunt team mess up and collide in Moose Jaw...when you fly either in tight formation or perform stunts, eventually something will go wrong.

Bad deal for these guys, I often wonder if the viewing piblic appreciates how dangerous performing at these shows can be.

X2, when I was a kid, I watched one of the Golden Hawks collide with a light aircraft , just coming into Calgary for an air show, that was just the trip in. The Snowbirds have lost a few over the years as well, Probably have to be supremely confident, but no room for arrogance and even then, just a bird in your path can spell disaster.
