Default CZ 452/Leupold/Talley question

Hi all,

I know I've seen this discussed on here before, but I searched and couldn't find the thread I remembered reading. I just picked up a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28mm scope for my CZ 452 American. I've been using a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 on this gun with BKL rings. I'm hoping to upgrade to the Talley 3/8th inch CZ rimfire rings, which I know a lot of people use with this gun/scope combination. My question is this: Do I need the medium, high or extra high Talleys? The ocular bell on the scope is fairly small, so I'm hoping I'll be able to use the medium ones and still have room to operate the bolt.

You need medium standard Talley rings. Not their rimfire rings.

Nice choice on the scope. It's a favourite of mine for a hunting scope on a 22LR.

Those Talley rings list a height of 0.4 inch. They will have tons of room for the objective of your Leupold.

I ran that scope with Burris rimfire rings with 0.45 height. Lots of room for the objective.

I am currently mounting that scope with J&P adapters and Burris Signature (not zee) low rings. The adapters are about 0.21inch and the rings measure 0.13inch. This setup will be lower than the Talley's you're considering. I've got about 0.2 inch gap between the objective and the barrel.

As an aside, your Leupold has a tapered ocular, so there will be no issue with bolt clearance.

I have a 452 luz with the 11mm rings and I use the talley lows .350 with that same scope.

I'd buy the mediums 3/8 dovetail listed on the website
