Even if it was an anomaly, the trick is to say you have an addiction, then you can't be fired because it's considered a disability.

UMM, It depends. Is she a 20 something student partying on a Sat. night, or someone who would like us to believe they are past that and mature enough to represent us in the management of billions of dollars that aren't hers?

OR are you ok with paying someone north of 100 grand a year to party hardy on the taxpayer dime? Didn't we just go through that.

Now the reality once again is youngsters and newbies should be encouraged to shine, but not everyone is qualified to be a CEO, or even stay up past their bedtime.

Default Best case...

We could end up provincially like Norway is nationally. An actual balanced budget, a huge stack of cash saved in the bank, free education, and fish sandwiches for everyone. That'd be great! Unfortunately I don't think the NDP will go so far as to actually get proper royalties for OUR oil and gas, or tax corporate profits at a reasonable (read higher) level, nor nationalize the oil companies as the Norwegians did. Too bad, we'll continue to spend without taxing, give our resources away to corporations for damn near free and watch the money leave our province and country, and otherwise get bent over as a province and nation.

Or maybe the NDP will actually do something good. We'll see.

Alberta is approaching $18 billion. Norway $1 trillion.

Any reasons for the difference?

Alberta GDP in 2013 was about $80,000 and Norway $100,000.

Norway 2013 GDP was $512 billion... Alberta $112 billion.

Industry costs per bbl or boe is very high in Alberta due to smaller pool size and lower rates. Norway has very large pools and high rates. Margin is different for skimming.

So if one thinks Alberta can be compared it is unreasonable. Still greater savings would be nice but it would mean cutting spending and/ or increasing personal taxes.

Who wants that ?

Lol I'm think I'm done replying to anti-ndp posts. Anyone who voted non-ndp is the minority and I'm super excited that prentice is gone and he showed his true colours. A true outdoorsmen would be embracing ndp.

Albertans will learn that things weren't THAT bad. Things have been too good for too long around here and to many don't know what hard times are really like.
A wake up call was needed and soon to be delivered

52% went to PC and WR...k that is 'non-NDP'...still with me??

...that means non-NDP voters are the majority.

I know math is hard sometimes but you'll get er one day, keep at it.

I was once good at math, is the 52% the sum of wildrose plus conservative?

Just adding to the count.

Nothing more.

Fire good.

Nothing is good is going to come of this. We are headed for a 15 year recession. As soon as it gets stupid I'm packing up my business and family and moving to our place in BC. It's going to be hard for them to create a budget when business moves out and oil and gas shut it in do to royalty hikes. Why produce Alberta petroleum under this gov when the prices are down. This will kill our economy

I think the ndp will be good because albertans will figure out their political bearings.... 40 years of pc and from what i can gather most people dont know right from left.

Conservative is not massive government and government spending while spending pretty much all excess money on social programs to buy votes.

The conservative in alberta probably died in the early 2000's. People here are entitled to massive government infrastructure projects, massive bureacracy, large subsidies by way of using oil revenue to keep taxes low.

Without oil alberta would need to raise non royalty government revenue 50%

But you think government should not be in the business of CPP or Old Age Security, right? They should close it down because only families should be responsible for their elders, right?

Default Finally some capitalists in power!

I can't wait for the government to end this corporate welfare!
For years and years the so-called conservatives have been giving all these companies government money to keep them in the province and to keep pumping up that GDP in the name of "growth".
Hopefully these new leaders actually understand the idea of a free market and stop giving away all our money to these companies and see if they can actually survive in a capitalist system.
(Note: leaving money on the table is the same as giving money from your pocket, right? If you feel differently, please come to my house for poker night.)

Also, I sure hope this government can actually run like a business and make some investments! For being titans of business, the PCs didn't seem to have a very good handle on how investing works. Making money? Put under the mattress so you can spend it in a few years when it is worth less.
No wonder they had to leave the oil comanies and get government jobs.
They probably would have gone home once Leduc #1 dried up, since developing those other wells cost too much!
