Default new stock for old Parkerhale

I was thinking about buying a thumbhole stock from Boyds. It looks like for around 200.00 I can have the stock here with a Limbsaver and cut to length. Does anybody have any information about Boyds or these stocks. Thanks Digger

I've ordered two stocks from boyds. One in a nutmeg and another in a pepper, both for my savage rifles. Both were ordered with laser engraved stippeling. The fit and finish of these stocks are really impressive. I need to get pictures of these up for people to see. I highly recommend them and there were no problems in the ordering or shipping them!

Be prepared to do...or pay to have someone else do the final inletting.

Least I had to for the one on my PH.

Maybe the parker hale stock is different, but on the one for my Rem 700 there was no inletting needed. No glass bedding either, group size remained around the 1/2 to 3/4 inch mark

You probably bought a stock that was specific to the model 70 and 100% finished. I did the same for a Vanguard.

But they did not make a stock specifically for the PH.

The only choice available was to buy the appropriate mauser stock.

So... I bought a large ring mauser stock long action with an opening for a floor plate or magazine but only 80% inletted.
The result was that I had to open the magazine slot, trim a bit here and there for the subtle differences in the action and barrel and lugs and cut the bolt inlet.

Acually... my smith did and that cost me a few bucks.

The end result was good but unless they changed something...and I doubt it... Boydes does not make a slip-in for Parker-Hales.

Thats probably the difference then, the 700 is made to fit,the PH maybe not so. Other than the inletting finishing how did you like the stock?
I am trying to find out if they make one for the old FN Browning take down pump .22. Need both fore end and butt

Lovin it.

The warmth and beauty of wood with the advantages of composite.

I take it your original stock split somewhere around the tang or the rcoil lug?
Pretty common problem...especially before they started to pin the stocks.

I have another that was bedded and looks like it will stand up...thank God.

Oh... hmmm... the browning...wish I could remember but there is an outfit that can reproduce a stock for you here in Alberta.

Damn memory...town starts with an N IIRC.
Do a search of the posts... eventually it will pop up.
It was mentioned in detail only a few months to perhaps a year ago.

Or... just start another post with that question... probably be faster.

Yes it has split there,as well is pretty beat up and has being abused. The .22 was given to me by a close friend, so I am trying to restore it. It still shoots good, just looks like crap
Thxs,I will start a search

Its been a while but I think that is ballpark what I paid.
Hard to say though... I had a repair of the magazine release/tension screw thingy done as well.

I can say this for sure.. that rifle is my main date and after 5 years of going into and out of vehicles...being dragged around the bush etc... there isn't a dent ding or scratch in that stock.

Those stocks are almost bullet proof.
