Bat Out of Hell - Meat Loaf 1977

There's a man in the shadows with a gun in his eye
And a blade shining oh so bright"

I would have to say ABBA, and that was the first album I ever bought.

I grew up in Europe and Abba was way bigger there then then here.

After listening to some tunes tonight, I've decided to change my mind and go with: "Running On Empty" by Jackson Browne.

Smile

American Pie by Don Mclean. I believe it came out in 1971.

A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while.

But february made me shiver
With every paper I’d deliver.
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn’t take one more step.

I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride,
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died.

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die.
"this’ll be the day that I die."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMlzfpwJZuc

I won't put the rest of it up. You know the words. But now they'll be stuck in your head and you won't be able to get them out for the next week.

Cheers,
Rob

Default Nobody for Bob Dylan?

Hurricane is a favorite, esp if you know a bit about the underlying story...the wording is just brilliant:

Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties/
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise/
While Rubin sits like Buddah in a ten foot cell/
An innocent man in a living hell

Positively Fourth Street and Rainy Day Women are also great.

I was at the Stones Concert in Calgary, pretty much anything that comes out of Mick Jaggers mouth is a hit.

YEAH, BABY!! The hook riff on that tune was tremendous!!
Also mentioned were a few others that really get to me, Free Bird being about the most noted, i think.
Highway star was another , Why didn't Rosemary, Hush, Whipping Post, and of course, Little green bag by the George Baker Selection.

And let's NOT forget the Funk brothers, the studio band that was behind almost ALL of the big Motown vocal sensations of the day, and still going!
And Tush by the ZZ boyz, of course!

Thank goodness for XL 103.1 out of Calgary and Sunnny 94 from Lacombe where they still play those old tunes on the radio.

I think the 70's was a great year.
