Default Canoeing east of calgary? Not really a fishing post.

Hi All,

I was supposed to take my wife and her mother canoeing on the Bow tomorrow but the forecast is looking ominous, and the further west, which is the direction I always head, the worse it gets!

I've never explored east of Calgary and I'm wondering if any of you have a suggestion for a scenic body of water about an hour's drive out.

Fishing is totally secondary. I just want a picturesque place to bring my mother in law for her birthday.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Überfly.

You've always got some good suggestions for people.

We ended up on the bow as the weather was quite nice. Not all went well. I'm posting a follow up thread.

Red Deer River looks like a great paddle. I'll keep that in mind for next time.
