Question The On the Phone Fish

Yesterday was the 2nd time I've got a fish on the end of my fly line while indicator nymphing and while being on the phone. It was a bit of a frustrating experience as I didn't get hits all day. Then when my wife calls, bang, fish on.

I must be doing something differently when I'm on the phone. Not paying attention as much, giving more action to the nymphs, or maybe mending differently, or perhaps it was an accidental hook set.? Thoughts??

Has anyone else experienced this phenomena?

If I would have known that's all it takes, I would gotten her to call me earlier and more often.

I believe that is called Murphy's Law. Fish will only hit when you are not prepared/payng attention.

I have a similar phenomena but when I'm eating (mostly while ice fishing or trolling as I don't tend to eat and flyfish at the same time).

Congrads on your fish! On the bow?

The phone must be the key to catching fish. Just came back from floating in Cardiff pond. A guy on shore was reeling in his line when his phone rang. Answered the phone and a fish took his hook. Did a good job of landing the fish without dropping the phone.

Take a small plastic thing that looks like a phone so the fish will be fooled and throw your other phone away. Problem solved.

We've come to rely too heavily on technology. What did we do before we had frickin' cell phones? I go fishing to get away from people and the damn phone. The last thing I want is have to have it ring or talk to anyone while fishing.
To each their own.

1st mistake was letting your wife know you have cell service where you fish.
