I was down there for a few hours today and didn't have much luck, the water is still dirty and you can fish the NSR down at the park but whitemud creek is shallow and still covered in ice, I did catch a few small walleye across from the Quesnell bridge at the outfall. Fishing is extremly slow right now, should speed up around the start of may.

i fish the nsr all the time (was there today) but i don't know about conditions or locations west of goldbar. from goldbar east you can fish year round. water was surprisingly clear today. very muddy shores on the sunny side and ice shelves in the shade.

I've fished it a couple times recently downstream of Goldbar. Water clarity seems to vary on where you are...I fished one spot that was quite gravelly and the water was pretty clear, but when I fished a spot where the bottom was very silty, the water was also murkier.

Still got into some fish though

I've actually been doing better this spring than I have in previous years. It may be a location thing but I'm not sure yet...need to do some more exploring/experimenting

yes you can't fish there until May 15 like @allenford just stated but its frozen over and really muddy so even if it was legal I don't think you would have much luck there at this time of the year. At the park you can fish the NSR its open all year round in Edmonton and there is a spot where the ice has broken off but the water seems dirty and fishing there seems slow. I deffinetly agree with @Geezle and @waterninja it seems the fishing north of goldbar is alot better and the water seems less dirty.
