Default Ucluelet Fishing report

Went out to the islands west coast Ucluelet for the first time and loved the little town. Didn't spend many days their but the location is great. Protected waters to fish and open ocean banks not to far offshore.

Day one very windy so tried fishing near ucluelet but only caught some ling and rockfish and only saw one salmon caught.

Day two talked to some guys who said troll the light house to wya point so we did. Caught my first chinook and some lings and rockfish.

Day three even though still very rough could not resist trying south bank. It was our short day cause we had to catch the ferry so fished about 1030 till 1500 and caught 4 chinook and lost another. Was a great day for us beginners. Poor kids and wife were sick and sleeping all day on the Gravol. I was loving it!

Tough fishing for everyone that week but we will be back!

Thanks, it was actually a canary. First one I've caught up here. Down in California they have to be released.

Looks like you had fun out there! Way to go. I almost tried Ucluelet last year but as we were all complete greenhorns, I thought maybe we should be in more protected water??? And we tried an outfit at Hardy.

So how protected is it at Ucluelet? I thought it was all open ocean?

That's a much larger boat than last year... A new purchase? What is it?
