Default Struble Lake - ROCKY MTN HOUSE

Have you guys ever fly fished struble lake near rocky/caroline? I was out recently and was wondering if its worth me bringing my fly rod there since i only have a full floating line and its a fairly deep lake from what I saw. Any tips on what I should use or do? Going to be my fourth time out with a fly rod trying to catch my first fish on it...i wish i could get more luck

Buy a fast rate sinking leader. Rio makes them in long lengths. I have a 9 and 12 foot. Turns any floating line into a sink tip. This time of year fish will be in shallower water. Tie on 4 feet of fluorocarbon and strip leech patterns (Wooley bugger). Should have your first trout in no time.

They just stocked Struble with 19000 fingerlings 3-5 inches, have fun they won't leave you alone. Also find Struble for some reason better to fish from 10 til 3 , don't know why that is.
And yes I've been there other times. Maybe dump the Seamax in this weeken if I can get rid of this crappy cold.

After stocking, most lakes suffer a week or so of doldrums.

Every lake that I had been fishing with good success pretty much died off for at least 2 weeks after being stocked, the big ones just seem to shut down, must be all the new food dumped in.
