Beautiful day at Pyramid as the ice is OFF ! Plus 15 degrees ...
On the shore my mind went to work and I landed 4 nice Lakers !
One weighted 15 pounds ! Just a few weeks now ! Love the Mountains...

It's the earliest I have seen the ice come off the lakes here around Jasper.
...and still excellent ski conditions up at Marmot!

Any Parks Canada staff sitting in a boat on the lake today doing a limnological study?
That lake is kind of interesting in it's turnover.

Very interesting indeed. Other than in your mind, do you catch decent lakers there early season McLeod?
Too bad Patricia isn't open until July. I can picture them swimming in the shallows there.
....you're making me nuts!

Limnology is the study of inland waters - lakes (both freshwater and saline), reservoirs, rivers, streams, wetlands, and groundwater - as ecological systems interacting with their drainage basins and the atmosphere.
Just for us who had no clue.

And that is such a shame.
That is due the Alberta Teachers Association who will be demanding higher salaries as soon as Prentice is elected.
Limnology is the same thing as Marine Biology, except it applies to fresh water. Why can't a child be taught that simple definition?

Good to know. I'm off work right now so I can be patient and not be a weekend warrior...so good!
I'll wait until the crowds are gone the following Tuesday and stay for another lake that opens on May Long....weeeeeeeeeee ha!
Thanks McLeod

Used to have respect for your opinions GreyLynx. What exactly do you have against teachers?
Think we have it easy with all the BS about summers off? Tell ya what, come and teach my math class, let's see if you think I earn my hard earned money.
Better yet, go and teach my colleague's former grade 4 class, with 8 special needs kids and 30 kids total in the class. I'll give you till morning recess...about 90 minutes.
Sorry for the hijack. Rant done. Regular programming can resume.

Actually, the marine counterpart of limnology is oceanography.
Marine biology is the study of marine life.

Ah yes... that would make sense. Didn't catch on. I got a 15lb too last night around 3am. Although the memory is a bit fuzzy.

It should be less of a gong show this year, as I'm sure Maligne will be ice free on opening weekend as well!
