Default marten magic

Picked up some replacement Barne's Marten Magic at Halford's a month or so ago. Went to use it and found 2 containers were the color of vaseline and very little skunk smell to them. That left me with 1 container that was blue-green in color and potent, as it should be. Anyone else run across this?

The last time I was at Halford's, I noticed some labels on the floor, near the lure section Well, being the helpful kinda guy I am, I put some of the labels back on the jars that had none on.... maybe, my sense of smell isn't what it used to be...to many diesel fumes....Just a thought.....

Old stock by the sounds of it.

I had a can of pure skunk gland go rancid. It turned a cream colour and lost it's power. In fact it smelled a bit like wet diapers. The Lynx loved it, but nothing else did.

Thanks Keg. I'll be taking it back for a replacement.
Doug, somehow I figured it was you. That's why the lynx rub had barbercue sauce labels on it! You might get barred out of there for being a mischievious trapper. Just kidding my friend!

Jim, I usually use it with Fortyths' marten and fisher lure, both together, which makes a potent smelling call lure. I don't mix them, just use them both at the same box, with beaver meat as bait. This is the first year I have ran across a bad batch of Marten Magic. It pays to remove the lid in the store and check them before purchasing. Probably won't be too popular with the store folks, but they shouldn't sell outdated lures either.
