Default Elk hunt in 214/314??

I have elk tag for general three point or bigger and wondering if anyone knows land with permission to harvest a bull.
Land I have as elk around but 1500 yards out and ignore calls now obviously.
They all seem to sit on land they know their safe.
Too smart
Anyway any ideas?
Thanks and safe hunts

Default 214/314

Drop by F & W in Cochrane and see if any landowners are having elk issues. Worked for me last year with a cow tag.

there are a few elk around but the main problem is getting permission to hunt! The elk that are on places where landowners give permission are usually over hunted by this time of year and are very hard to get close to. Grab a landowner map and knock on some doors. farmers are sometimes grateful to have one less elk on their property... and some are VERY against hunting.

Strange year around here for elk, nobody seems to be seeing the usual numbers in the places I haunt. Buddy's place, west of Sundre is usually a given to at least see some, one of their regular hang outs, not a track. Scarce at Bergen as well, though a couple have been killed. Haven't seen any sign east of 22 either.

True but we took 4 out of one herd all within 1/4 mile of each other over a two month period last year. Two in the same field a week apart. And it never hurts to ask permission, the worst they can say is no. Some only give permission for the late elk seasons, some only let 1 or 2 guys on a time so spots will open up when guys tag out. Getting close to a herd of animals is tough in any season.
Good luck

Good point about spots opening up after guys tag out. It never hurts to ask either. some landowners might say no for this year but tell you to come back next year earlier in the year to ask. or sometimes they will tell you who does let hunters on in the neighborhood.

I found a half dozen shooter size Bulls just off land I am allowed on
And I guess the guy who owns that land is some hot shot lawyer that only lets his clients hunt.
And they obviously paying zero attention to call them over for a party! Lol
