Default ticks

spring's come early to kamloops and I found 6 on me after today's fishing trip. Can anybody share some tips and tricks for finding them? will throwing my clothes in the dryer for 20 minutes kill any that might still be there? 3 I found crawling on my clothes, then 2 after I got home in my hair, then another in my jeans.

In my experience, they tend to move off of your clothes and into your unmentionable areas pretty quick. Giving yourself and your clothes thorough once over in all the "tight" places should be sufficient. Check through your hair, armpits and anywhere else the sun don't shine (even your belly button). Usually they take a long time before they start digging in, so if you do a thorough check once you're home, you can usually get them in time. If you're worried about the clothes, a wash and a hot dryer should take care of them. Never seen a tick in the clean laundry.

On the plus side, if they're out this early, maybe the season will end early too?

Use permethrin on your clothes and you won't find any on you.

FYI... as well as lyme disease there is also Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever that is caused by ticks...

After a hike years ago, I had thrown my clothes thru the wash and dry cycle and I put my shirt on and a tick crawled out of my shirt pocket...
