Young Outdoorsman giveaway
Bit of doom and gloom on the forum lately. Mods leaving. People dying.
I’d like to give away 2 Coleman lanterns excess to my needs. These aren’t new, but in great shape.
I’d like to see these go to young outdoorsmen (male or female, preferably under 15 yrs of age.)
I won’t ship them but I will hold them and do my best to get them delivered through Pony Express if need be.
They are both 286 single mantle with case, funnel and mantles. Both function beautifully.
One has just a little more experience than the other . This one I’ll call Leo.
The other I’ll call sns. As both these mods have departed, so will these lanterns from me. I’m hoping they go to good use on camping, hunting and fishing trips.
The only request I have would be that the youngsters post pics of a hunt or fishing trip they have been on ( hopefully with a small write up).
That’s it. I hope I’m responsible for 2 future “happy” posts. These will be First come, first served. I can drop off in Edmonton area.
And come on guys, don’t be picking these up for some long lost nephew cause you need a spare for the wall tent. Young outdoorsman are proud to have their own “stuff “.
I can be reached through Pm

Awesome work Moo Snukkle.
Instead of PM's, give them to the first young members that do post a story and provide a link to your thread. Just a thought.

Coming from a 15 year old. Good on you! I have that exact lantern and can vouch for its handiness! It brings back a lot of memories of making dinner in the dark after a long hard day of hunting and hiking. Hope it goes to someone who will enjoy for years to come!

Thanks for getting the ball rolling, Steve. I just got a new Spyderco Phil Wilson Bow River knife. It's not really expensive, but guys who own em really love em, and say they are as good a value as there is and work cat's azz as a deer skinner.
I was gonna give it to my son, but we just talked and he felt there are probably lots of Dad's who may love to give their outdoorsy son or daughter a nice gift, but Covid/inflation/job loss may have kicked their finances, and need to choose more important things. If that describes your current situation, shoot me a pm and the knife is yours to gift to your kid. No need to reply on this thread.

I actually think some of the old grumpy buggers, which would likely apply to most of us, should get off their azzes, go through their tickle trunk, and add some good stuff to your thread. Not junk either. For kids.

Following Moo's example, except I didn't name any of them.

Same Deal as Above. Pickup in Edmonton. Any one of the knives in this picture. One per person. If there is no sheath in the picture, the knife doesn't have one. Send me a P.M.

Young Outdoorsman giveaway
So the sns is spoken for
Just the Leo left. I’ll add another to the package. An old school propane. No case, but in its original box

Those cases look great.
I bought a plastic Coleman case, and built one just like those.
The wooden one has never let a globe break.
The plastic one has been a disappointment...

Well you got me motivated. I have a .177 break barrel which has less than 100 shots through it. Be a good gun for teaching a youngster to shoot.
It is 495 fps so no PAL required.
PM me here.

Thanks to all, for the thanks. And thanks so much for those that joined in and contributed. The truth of the matter is that nobody has interest in this stuff anymore. Either that, or not enough young adults frequent this site. And that right there, would be a travesty. There is so much combined wisdom here to be tapped, would be a shame to not pass it on.
I only hope my gesture brings me good karma. A member on this forum ( from a non hunting family) posted about needing a hand calling moose. I messaged him, and jumped at the chance to help him out, as I’m not hunting moose this year myself. So tomorrow, I’m making a 2 hr drive to meet someone new and give him a hand on a moose bow hunt. The game is there. Trail cam pics don’t lie. My only hope, is that giving up my experience is equally as good as giving an actual gift to a new hunter.
I know how hard it can be for the old timers to wrap their head around this, but I challenge you to take a chance, and mentor a new hunter. It will, at the very least, get you out into the field.

Will revive this great thread that lost traction for a few days.
I will donate the following:
- Brand new "Rocky" fanny pack.
- Brand new Gerber orange folder with sheath.
- Brand new Buck 311 folder (no sheath).
- Refurbished skinner knife by me (elk antler handle) with sheath.
This is a package deal only and I will not separate. I would prefer a local transaction (Rocky Mtn House), but willing to work out shipping cost out of town if required.
So the first PM I get to help out young boys/girls in this great sport/hobby we all enjoy, gets it.
I challenge others to do the same for the cause...

On hell of a contribution Phil. I’ll cover any shipping costs you incur.
