women's national biathlon team

I'd encourage everyone to promote our national biathlon team. Even the hard-core anti-gun fanatic just has to soften up a bit when they see these young athletes putting their hearts and souls into their demanding sport.
At the very least, they make firearms seem a lot less 'scary' to the non-firearm-using public.

Our Canadian women's team is based right here in Alberta - at the Canmore Nordic Centre. As the shooting sports are not 'politically correct' these days, they are terribly underfunded by the government. The Canadian National Firearms Association has stepped up to the plate, and become a sponsor to one promising member of the team. Those of you who are NFA members may remember the profile they ran on Megan in the Firearms Journal.

I wish I could figure out a way of encouraging members of this forum to kick in a few dollars each and as a group, make a significant sponsorship - but that seems like a daunting task. However, I can encourage you to visit their website and purchase a tasteful fund-raiser 2009 calendar online! Every little bit helps!

Thanks for putting this out here. I'm biased, I'm in biathlon myself, in the Masters class (some of us really are Masters, as they are retired competitive athletes, others, like me, just try to be as good as the aging body allows). I just ordered mine.
