404
Been hunting 404 hard trying to connect with my elk since opener. Any guys/gals hunting this zone that dont allready know the rules here is a tidbit of info for you so you dont end up in a court hearing. You are not allowed to hunt with in 365m of the highway ( in a straightline, as the crow flies, not 365m up a hill) also seen many people with in the 365m with their rifle slung and bolt (assuming rounds in gun also) in their gun. The 365m rule is due to it being a sancuary for animals, hense your firle needs to be cased(gun sock at a min), bolt out and rounds out of rifle. I have been checked twice this season arriving back at the truck(always had mine legit so no problems) and have had good conversations with the CO's. They told me it is a mandatory court date for bolth offenses that they take very seriously and you will not win in court. So please know the rules and laws for each zone as i have seen one elk carcass in the 365m zone and numerous hunters this year with rifles loaded right in the parking lots this year. I will be reporting all obvservations of law breaking as its not fair to anyone or any animal. Thanks for your time.

Maybe those CO's can get out of their trucks and scare all the bears back 365 Meters so we can walk safely in and out in the dark with our bolts out of out guns........

"It is unlawful to hunt within 365 m (400 yards) of the centre-line of the road in a designated road corridor wildlife sanctuary (a corridor 730 m or 800 yards wide). No person shall possess a weapon in these sanctuaries unless the weapon, if it is a firearm, is unloaded and either dismantled, encased, or completely enclosed by another suitable covering. If crossing a road corridor wildlife sanctuary on horseback or on foot, a firearm must be unloaded and the person must be travelling in a direct route to leave the sanctuary."
no mention of archery gear, by the letter of the law does anyone know if Bows need to be cased / covered as well?

I believe a bow is considered a primitive weapon.

Last time I hunted 410 which also has a wildlife corridor off 400 yards along hi way 1A your bow did not have to be encased.

Wildlife corridor
If you're walking I'm "pretty sure" your rifle doesn't have to be encased, ship ply un loaded is fine.

Wrong! Gun has to be encased . Not in a case . Dictionary definitionis as a sword is to a sheath. Gun can have bolt in .
Please people check laws and definitions. If you don't understand do not listen to anybody on AO . It won't hold up in court some guy told you on here .

This is my understanding as well.
If you're walking through, it must be unloaded but a case & disassembly isn't required as I read it.

404 has one of the highest density's of grizz's. sure there has to be some forgiveness for hunter safety to vehicle. some good bulls in the zone.

Saw a beast of a bull last fall by Stimson creek. Big 6x6. Didn't see any grizz but I had bear spray and dad had a shotgun.

Just trying help all, just what i have been told twice this year by two different COs. Dont want anyone ending up in court, do your own dudillegance i guess and make your own decision. I for one have not seen one bear back there yet this year and have spent 26 days total this year in there ( always carry bear spray for the 365m)
