Nikon Prostaff 3x9xBDC
Can anyone say good or bad about the Nikon Prostaff? I'm looking for a new scope but don't want to break the bank. If you wouldn't buy it what would be a comparable priced scope?
I don't like to shoot really long distances, 300 yards would be tops.
Thanks,

I think they are really good scopes for the money. The BDC does work, however, in my opinion, you are better off with their plain old plex reticle.

Great scopes! Never had a single problem with any of the ones I own/ owned. Great scope for the money, great glass and tracks like a scope should. You won’t be let down.

Good scope, but the reticle is the big let down.

Agreed. Decent glass but those circles should be dots...or stick with the duplex reticle. Aiming a circle is very weird.
If weight is a concern the Nikons are heavier than say Leupold in a similar configuration.

Bushnell warning
The Bushnell Prostaff is not listed as a current model by Bushnell.
Bushnell makes frequent model changes with short sales cycles.
Expect the Bushnell definition of ’lifetime’ warranty to be much less than yours.
Expect that any warranty request will result in an ‘equivalent’ replacement, which will be equivalent in only price, (and not the features or specifications that motivated you to ‘take a chance’ on Chicom)..
Expect replacement by an AR 223 as that is the cheapest scope in that line.
Expect to pay more in aggravation and effort and postal cost and warranty fee than the original cost.
Expect the (lack of) build quality and performance of typical Chicom ‘economy’ optics.
Experienced scope repair techs report that Chicom optics are often assembled with a ‘hot glue gun’, and are usually not repairable.
Note the volume of Bushnell products for sale (with few buyers) on the EE & @ Shows.
Google ‘Bushnell warranty fail’, ‘Bushnell warranty issue’, and similar, to discover LOTS of reports of poor and unacceptable experience.
IMHO &E, avoid all recent or current Bushnell products.
Good Luck, YMMV.

I wouldn't expect to see the Prostaff on the Bushnell website, since it's a Nikon product.
If you can get into the Prostaff 5 or 7 line or Monarch ,decent scopes for the money.I own three.I had the basic Prostaff on a .270 Win. for 3 years ,sold it and it went south on the new owner,he claims.Don't know what ,if anything happened with Warranty on that Model.Have 2 of their Rimfire scopes ,love them.
