Default Sled Boys! Help wanted

I have a Polaris Vertical Edge RMK 2004. On Sunday I blew the belt. The one in it was a Polaris belt but the spare one is some other brand and it squeals like crazy.. and also it feels like theres a small vibaration after i blew tht belt. Is it the clutch or is my engine headed down hill. It did rev high when the belt blew cause it was loaded up pretty good.. Do any of you have answers??

Anthony

Isn't there a direction in which the belt has to turn? Maybe its on backwards?

Yes make sure the belt is mounted turning in the right direction. Also may need to adjust the tension on the belt. Imho I'd be using an oem belt for that exact reason. They will cost more but more times than not they fit and perform much better!

Might be some cords or other junk wrapped up inside your clutches. Best to pull them and clean them after you blow a belt.

I would start by buying the correct belt for that machine.

Usually the spare belt is a used one that gets put in the holder when a new belt gets put on if it's worn out yes it might get you out of a spot but should be changed also if there's any wear spots on it they make it feel like a vibration Canadian tire sells dayco belts around $35 buy 2 one to put on and one to put in the holder for a spare

your spare belt is an old used one that got smoked and some one kept it just as a way to get home if needed.

Yup. Most spare belts are the old worn one, just there to limp you back lol. I have grenaded belts and never hurt the engine. But i ride Ski Doo, Polaris are delicate
