Default Hoyt pro defiant/bowtech reign/elite option???

I am quickly finding myself in the market for a new bow. I'm just curious if anyone has any opinions on these bows yet. I currently shoot a 2011 Hoyt CRX. I'm partial to Hoyt because of their rigorous testing process and great warranty. However, I like that the new elite option comes with a split limb, and the riser is 7075 aluminum. And I like the prices of the bowtech reign, that along with the fact that it looks as though there is no hand shock what-so-ever on the shot. I'm probably going to shoot them all, and choose according to fit and how well I shoot with them. Feel free to suggest other brands, these three are just the ones That I am interested in at the moment. Thanks for your info!!

Lefty Canuck, I already know your answer!!! Lol!!

As boring as it is, I think you've already answered your own dilemma. Shooting them will allow the bow to choose you (I feel like there should be a "young grasshopper" thrown in that statement somewhere)
All 3 are very fine in their own right. Could pick any one unseen and it would be a good bow.
Most importantly, add pics to this thread once you take one home and get some arrows down range Once you shoot them, you'll probably be able to give the best review here
Have fun!

Just go shoot them. I loved bear until I shot elite and will stay with my i34 for years to come. But it's all personal choice there's no "best bow" like some will have you believe

If you shoot the Elite, have them back it out a few turns and shoot it. There have been some issues when you reduced the draw weight; valley decreases and hold weight increases.

If you haven't check out APA it will surprise you... couple things they are one of the easiest bows to tune and they are Canadian made. They have something for every shooter.... one of the best things is if you don't want to spend 1000 on a bow press you don't need too, you can do it all without it.... the other brands you have posted are good to 95% of the bows out there are really good....

I second checking out the APA's. There is truly an option for everyone in their line up. The cam lock system is something that makes tuning not so much of a PITA, and you don't have to worry about damaging your bow in a press. The new bows with the m1 rds have made up for any short comings in the past, and certain models now come with edge cutter strings which get rid of a lot of the issues with string stretch and settling.

shoot them all, then decide.

Either way, they should all be an improvement over your 2011 model, technology has changed a lot in 6 years. Just comes down to how it feels and what you like.

Lets us know your thoughts after you shoot them all.

I thank you for your input. I have looked at APA's in the past. They might shoot good and be very accurate bows, but I just couldn't handle having a bow that I don't like to look at, I find their designs very unappealing to the eye. Again, I'm not saying they aren't good bows, they're just not my style. It's unfortunate though, I would like to support a Canadian company.

I will shoot before I buy. That is one of the things I like about buying a new bow, as opposed to buying a new gun. At least you get to shoot them before you buy them. I realize looks don't mean much in terms of a bows performance. I just can't shoot a bow, that I don't find pleasing to the eye. That, and I'm pretty partial to split limbs, for absolutely no good reason. I just like them.

Interesting you like the split limbs that much. I love my bowtech but hate the look of the split limbs it has
If you're still looking at other options, I was really impressed with another forum member's obsession. I forget the model. I find shooting bows in a shop is tough to make a comparison because they aren't all equally set up tuned and balanced etc. I didn't care for the obsession when I tried one in a store, but then shooting one ready to hunt it was a very pleasant bow. This is in comparison to my bowtech experience, which is a really smooth bow to shoot as well

Shot a few bows today, all Hoyt's!! There wasn't any of the elites or a bowtech reign 7 to compare to. The Hoyt's shot nice though. I really like the DFX #3 cam, man is it smooth. I shot the pro defiant, pro defiant turbo, and a carbon defiant. I really liked the carbon defiant. But not sure I can justify the extra $450 just to have a carbon riser over the aluminum. Hopefully there will be a new bow in my near future. Just need to sell off a few things first.

The Hoyt Carbon Defiant with the #3 cam is a sweet sweet ride for sure. Did you shoot the 34" one?

If you like the Hoyts try the Elite. finish is second to none in my opinion and is ultra smooth. I liked the hoyts when I was trying on new bows but ended up buying the elite. Im not sold on the need of a carbon riser personally so I like the elite.

Elites price is going g up substantially this year, and the amazing warranty that made them so attractive is going the way of the dodo too. Just a heads up.

I shot the 30.5" version, it was really nice. I haven't tried the elites yet, but I heard the price of the elites was going way up, like $1500-$1600, for that price I would rather stick to Hoyt. There may be a pro defiant in my future. But, my rifle sale fell through, so might be waiting awhile yet.

Just ordered me a bow after 10 yrs of playing with Bowtech(82nd airborne).

Bought a 2017 Obsession Huracon, 32" DL, 80 LB limbs, Kryptek highlander, 6" stab, whisker, d-loop,5arrow quiver. 366fps ibo.

Comes in around $1180 american shipped to my door. Super excited, I love bowhunting and want to one day shoot a big hog, an alligator and a Cape Buff. Here's to dreaming!!!!

Awesome looking bow, congrats on your new purchase. I hope you get to hunt those animals in the future. My dream hunt is caribou. I'd love to arrow a nice big bull! I'm probably going to stick with 70 pound limbs, on my next bow though.

Caribou are definitely very achievable with a bow. They become curious if they cant smell you and often walk right to you if wind is in your favor. Thanks for kind words amigo!

You are going to have to shoot a piece of rebar with that setup. 80 lbs, 32 " draw and 366 IBO???? WOW

Hes sending 6 free full length 250 spine with new bow. Not sure rebar would spin true
I have about three dozen 340 beman ics bowhunters with weight tubes that are gonna have to stay buddied up with the ol bowtech.

Even with 250 spins you will probably need to run an 85 grain head

366fps @ 32" draw, which is really a 345ish IBO bow.

HCA has bows that spit THEIR ARROWS out at 380ish.

He stated 32" draw and 366 IBO, not 366 at 32"

That bow is not a 366 IBO Bow, 366 @ 32". Those numbers are bit of a play on a specific setup. The poster is cut off

IBO standard is 30"/70lbs/350gr arrow. You can't get a true IBO measurement at 32" or 80lbs.

366 @ 32 isn't overly fast (but it is quicker than many) Many bows are capable of that, if they can adjust to 32"
