Default Resturant supply second hand

Try to look for used restaurant equipment supply stores. Usually can get s/s quite a bit cheaper than new.

How big of a piece are you looking for? I've got a stainless top off of a prep table.

Going through the same thing. Instead of stainless I am going with a bamboo butcher block, for an island countertop from Home Depot. $250 and I have to cut it to size.

Default Stainless

As long as you don't need any bends any metal supplier will have stainless. Calgary metal supermarket comes to mind. Bending and welding is a different thing. I did two stainless vanity tops, made the plywood tops and brought them in to a stainless shop and had the tops formed and welded to fit. Then installed them myself.

Default stainless steel

I work with stainless steel, I have few different sizes of tops bent up and some 18 & 20 GA stainless steel flat sheet sitting in my shop. Newellknik send me PM with the size and shape your looking for, I may be able to help you out.

Check with some of the local material recycle places. They may have used stainless counters that can be rebuffed.

If your know anyone in the trade an elevator door makes for pretty good benches and tables they are stainless and light. You'd just have to figure out a stand or some legs and your in business.

Ok, now I'm curious. Roughly how much does just plain stainless sheetmetal cost - of varying thickness and quality?

Would just a sheet work and then edged with say black or white square metal tubing? (So no bending would be involved.)

Or even wood for trim. Our bathrooms have black granite tile with cherry edging to match all the cabinetry. Looks great except I now need to lightly sand and refinish the cherry now - for the first time in 17 years. And black shows any and all dust. :-(

Could even trim with Ipe or something.

Check craigslist or kijiji for Restaurant Supply houses that sell used equipment.
Should be able to find a vey heavy duty counter for not much coin.
Lots of places go under in short order , thus making a buyers markeyt for equipment.
