Default How bad is the foxtail at hopewell

The ACA site says that there has been an increase in the foxtail at the Hopewell site is that just a cya disclaimer (since it always had lots of foxtail) or is it worst than normal.

The very Southside is pretty thick. Rest of the site has a bit but not to bad.

From what I have seen anyways.

Pulled a substantial piece out of the dogs eye. Be sure to do your once over of the dog back at the truck.

It's bad, I have been out twice. Trying my hardest to avoid the big patches, but it's basically impossible. Yesterday my dog got a foxtail stuck up her nose, luckily I was able to remove it. We were not even close to any patches of foxtail that I could see but the ground has windblown ones all over and she managed to sniff one up her nostril.

No way in hell I would be taking my dog there. He's my best friend. That stuff can kill.

Foxtail is horrible stuff. No bird is worth putting my dog through it on purpose.

I have had first had experience with it piercing the dogs skin between his toes, migrating up his leg and forming an abscess. If a seed gets into the airways it could have devastating effects of it is able to migrate through the body.

I have an article someplace maybe I’ll try to find it, but basically the guy was able to trace infections through his dogs body until the seed came out in the dogs hip. Crazy!

I try steer clear of it at all times. And if we have to go through a patch the dog gets leashed, and there no way in heck they get the opportunity to put their nose down till we are past it, and a thorough look over for any seeds after the fact.

Vet bills will make you do that!

Not the same article, but worth a read nonetheless:
