Default Looking for G.P.S. suggestions

I need to replace my 2012 Garmin GPS and I was wondering if anyone has a recent model and what they think of it. I understand that Garmin came out with an updated model a few years ago that was less than impressive.
Has anyone found anything newer and better?
Thanks for the information/ideas.
Roger

I use a garmin rino. A 530hxc i think. Love having the built in radio and being able to poll others.

Garmin InReach - map capabilities, texting anywhere, and a platform on your phone.

I've been happy with this model for 12 years. https://buy.garmin.com/en-CA/CA/p/140024

Use your phone. It is built in, constantly updated with road conditions and accident zones. Buy a nice mount for the vehicle and use bluetooth for guidance. Far better than old skule gps. You don't have to pay for updates, which was a huge Garmin scam for years.

For the bush or for road driving ?

I have a Montana loaded with back roads maps for my quad and boat it works excellent shows location on topo maps with incredible detail even the water depth. Downside is it's quite bulky for hiking or hunting on foot.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I only use it in the truck and was
wanting to see if folks were still happy with Garmin products. Seems like you are and that's good enough for me. Since all I want is the basic, I will probably go with the Drive 51.
Again, thanks.

I use the Gaia GPS app. It's not perfect, but I've been pretty happy with it. It has much of the functionality of a GPS unit. No phone signal required since it uses GPS signal.

For the Truck, I like my Garmin SmartDrive 50, great unit. For trecking the eTrex 30 has been great, waterproof, small and compact fits in a fishing vest, it has brought me back out of the backcountry many times. Sometimes at night which is a bonus. Lots of options out there. for both vehicles and handhelds.

I have a Garmin Montana 650 loaded with Skybase software. Love it but a little pricey.

I'm looking to upgrade my handheld unit as well and have a few questions maybe someone here can cover.

I currently have an old Lowrance and one thing that drives me nuts is that the logging roads only show on the map out to a scale of about 8kms. Can anyone confirm if the newer Garmin's do this as well or is there an option to manually override this declutter feature and keep these roads on at larger scale? Also can anyone confirm how the car mounted units handle logging roads?

Also if anyone has any input on hydrographic map capability/options (ocean) for the Garmin handhelds that'd be much appreciated.
