Default New Rigby cartridge

Makes me chuckle a bit, in that they likely should have done this 100 yrs ago or so, put a rim on the 416 Rigby, so now there is the 416 No.2. I guess the German owned, English company didn't think that using the German 500/416NE from a competitor, was the proper thing to do.

I thought the same - why not just chamber the .500/.416 ?

I guess it doesn't fit the brand?

Cool idea about 80 years late though. Now you just need a couple of hundred thousand Canadian for the gun it goes in.

Can't even begin to imagine what a run of that brass would be worth. Wonder what the minimum order quantity for it was? And who is doing it.

Kynoch have made Rigby's proprietary ammunition for over a century so I presume they will make the new cases and ammo as well. Kynoch ammo has never been cheap, last time I saw some it was running $480 Canadian for 20 (they are sold in boxes of 5) and my bet is the Rigby branded stuff is even more. Interesting history to read through.

For some reason the thought of Kynoch escaped me, you're right though, they'd be the first try, makes sense. Does cost some loot to play with the bigger bore toys.
