Default Ball head and tripod

So I’m picking up a pig saddle and want an accompanying ball head and tripod to shot off, anyone have experience with this, kind of want to get it right the first time. Heaviest firearm the tripod would see is under 10#’s. Biggest caliber would be 7Mm Rem Mag. Advice? Would like some portability to take it hunting and use it as a setup rest. Mainly its use would be limited to the range.

I sell these https://www.mcbaincamera.com/product...ain_id=1219731 to Edmonton Police Tactical. They put them on https://www.mcbaincamera.com/product...ain_id=1204041
and are quite happy with them.
If you're interested PM me for AO member pricing.

I was unable to open your URL links in Firefox.

Good Luck, YMMV.

Do you know if they are using them in conjunction with a pig or hog saddle?

Qwert, you must have some preference set...I'm on Firefox and they open fine for me.
Off in the Bushes...they use it with a Hog (as well as with their spotting scopes). Seems to work fine...can't really describe it, you just have to watch them...Hog on the Vanguard pistol grip, rifle positioned in such a way that they can easily grip the pistol grip...works far better than a standard ball and socket head.
Sorta like this

I'm using the MDT ARCA adapter https://mdttac.com/ca_en/bolted-arca-rss-adapter.html
It's much cheaper than the hog, I've got it mounted to a Neewer Carbon Fibre tripod and a RRS Arco head.

Arcs Swiss ball heads are a pretty good deal and look good.

My rifle is 18lbs, 7mmSTW. No problems shooting from it so far.

Hi Bob,

I do refuse cookies, but this very seldom stops me from viewing and reading, typically only use of 'shopping cart'.

I had some interest, but am similarly unable to access Hawke Optics to read specs and information.
I do not own any Hawke Optics.

I am really enjoying the Swaro ATX 1.7x multiplier you sent me last year,
Thanks for the great service.
Has Swaro produced a reticle for use with the ATX spotter?
When do you suspect there 'might be' a Swaro sale?

Good Luck, YMMV.

Hey, glad you like the multiplier. I’ll check on the reticle when I go back on Tuesday...and pm or call me at the store...we do have some of our Swarovski on special... maybe something you’re looking for.
If you still haven’t been able to open the above links, go to the McBain’s website and input the seven digit product numbers into the search field and it will take you there.

Look at the Really Right Stuff (RRS) anvil 30. Very slick unit, compact and has ARCA and picatinny rail capability

Looks like a killer set up, interested in this when hunting and prone isn't an option. Always have a tripod for the spotter anyway.

I use the hog saddle for pdog shooting in Montana, works very well with my 12 pound .220 swift. When looking for a ball head and tripod I found a Manfrotto 190 and swivel head for $100 on Kijiji with case. Guy I bought it from said it was too heavy duty for what he wanted. I bought a mountain brand foldable chair and boom a great comfortable shooting setup.

As slick as this looks I'm not quiet ready to drop $1400USD on it. It has gone a little out of my price range.

When I bought my Kowa77, around 1990, I picked up a good Manfrotto tripod also. Rigged up a piece of flatbar as a saddle for a small Hoppes front bag on it. Works well for gophers and field and stand shooting. It is heavy, but, does double duty for the spotter and the rest very nicely. I took that combo out hunting, it is too heavy for hiking the hills, sure is nice to use once you get there though. The one thing about a good tripod is you can use it in many different situations for a spotter, camera work and as a rest, and other than the ones like mine being heavy, they do make a big difference.

Wow, $1400.

A person would think that it might be wizer to build your own tripod for $100 and use the left over funds to go hunting up North...

Buy tripod,,, add ball mount

https://www.amazon.com/UTEBIT-Adjust.../dp/B0772LBG2D

or

https://www.imaging-resource.com/new...for-any-budget

Easy, fast, and simple...

Nothing like keeping $1200 bucks in the pocket for better things in life...

I like my Jim Shockey tripod... Super easy and fast for deployment on the furry critters when needed.

👍
