Close elk encounter
Thought I'd share a video I managed to shoot last week. A cow elk had passed within reach of me a few minutes before, so when this bull popped out and I determined he wasn't one I wanted to shoot, I quickly grabbed my phone and shot some video. First few seconds downloaded blurry but it clears up nicely https://youtu.be/5utzmTm8Kg4

Awesome video! Did you have a scent out like estrus elk? Or did he just randomly come sniffing. He looked like he was cruising!

No scent out, just on the trail of the cow that had passed by a few minutes earlier. He actually looks better on video than he did with the naked eye for some reason, but you can see he's a little bit spindly, not the thick and heavy beams of a mature bull. I had decided I would hold out for a good mature bull or else take a cow for meat. This was almost as fun for me though as if I'd have shot him, and I didn't even have to pack out the meat!

That was terrific. Thanks for posting! That must have been quite the rush.
I'm with Mr. K - if it was me, I'd have more than the usual spelling errors because I would be typing this with one hand, with a forkful of elk in the other.
