Default Montana rifle co. Or christensen arms

I am looking to buy a new rifle. I am thinking a 7mm-8 but that's not the question I have.

The rifles I am looking are Montana rifle co. X2 and the Christensen arms mesa. Do anyone have any experience with these rifles or these companies in different models?

Thanks for your input!

I have strongly considered the Montana for years. Read every word I can. Reviews are somewhat mixed. I drove out to Prophet River and was kind of underwhelmed after handling it, and couldn't justify the price difference over a Model 70 Extreme Weather. However, the nice thing is the opportunity to custom order a wide range of cartridges that are not readily available.

I have heard nothing but good about the Mesa.

I had a christensen arms steel, chambered in 243. The gun was very nice but the carbon fibre mag broke in two, and the finish on the stock started to chip off in places. The gun was deadly accurate with anything I threw at it. I sent it back to christensen and was refunded through their distributor. I bought a sako stainless in 243 to replace it.

I wouldnt touch a montana. A friend bought one and after 1 shot his brass was buggered because the chamber was so loose. After fighting with Montana Riifle co. for over a year he took it to a 'smith and had it rebarreled.

Personally, I have never been impressed with the Christensen rifles with carbon fiber barrels. I don't like the balance at all, as I prefer more weight in the barrel.

Cant go wrong with a kimber. Bought a montana in 7mm08 this spring and so far very impressed with it , very light , smooth action and awsome trigger.

A Kimber and a Montana Rifle co rifle are two different manufacturers

Build your own:
Stock-$500
Action-$600 (Rem 700)
Barrel-$520
Trigger-$150
Smith fees=$200-$400 depending what is all done. True action or not, plus chambering. Parts list are all approximate prices and could be less if you find in the classifieds. You may not need to spend $500 on a stock either. I have put together a few custom and semi custom rifles, and they all shoot great.
