Default BC Forest Closure

Looks like no crown land hunting for much of Southeastern BC. Forest shut down completely. Wouldn't doubt if Southern Alberta is next.

I think that is reasonable until we get some significant moisture.

Yeh, my brother is hunting in another part of BC right now, but I was going to meet him for opening day Elk in the East Kootney's next week. He phoned me about this closure an hour ago. I think we might have to re-schedule.

Dry down to Border, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, north to Estevan Saskatchewan. Dry all to Saskatoon, lloydminster, Edmonton, and west. Hot/Dry all over Western Canada. Yes fire bans appropriate.

Getting out this weekend in the SW Alberta. Wouldn't be surprised if they shut it down after the long weekend. It's not looking good...

I live in the East Koots, I wish they had closed it a week ago. Lot of guys from away came a long distance to get kicked out of the bush. Cranbrook Airport is shut down too, good sized fire burning within a few K. 30-35 degrees every day and no change for at least a week. And some pretty good winds at times. Feels like standing in a blow dryer. So much for bow season.

Thanks to the OP for supplying that link. This is going to affect thousands (ten's of thousands, hundreds of thousands ?) of people, esp with the long weekend. Worst of all, there is no rain in the forecast.

I'm amazed they didn't shut it before the long weekend. Most people I've talked to think it should be closed. Ranchers are giving zero permission.
