iPhone experts out there? 4s phone
Yes I know it's old and should probably update but want to avoid it. It has been a really trouble free phone. Has never been sent away for repairs or anything. Just encountered a weird thing the other day. I had sent some trail cam pics to a couple people. A few hours later tried sending same pics to other people and they won't send. Pictures are saved in my photos. Only way I can get it to send is to go back to an old text, then copy and paste that pic on the new text message. I am unable to get it to do anything if I try to send from the album. It will let you select the pic to send, but then it doesn't show up in text conversation an won't send.
Any ideas?

Powered down several times. Weird thing is the kids dont touch it and i never play around with settings. Unless it did something when I placed in my pocket before the screen could lock.
I even tried sending pictures other than the ones I wanted to just to see if it was something related to those pics and no difference.

If I go to my Album, then select a photo, then choose whether it be text or email, a whit box comes on in middle of screen and says, Preparing. Then it sits there and does nothing.

There's a cold boot up for the newer iPhone not sure when it started
It shuts any background programs down a could clean your problem
Press n hold the power button,
Then the power off slid will show
Continue to hold the power button down
In about 40-60 seconds it will return to your normal screen

You could try a hard boot.
Hold the power and the home button down together at the same time. Keep holding them both down until you see the apple logo. Then let them both go.
We have to do this with my daughters iPhone often. She has a 4s as well.
If that doesn't help, then you may need to back the phone up and wipe it and see if that fixes it. If it does, then try restoring the backup you made and see if it still works. If not, then a app or a setting you have is causing the issue.

This did it. After the reboot I waited for about an hour before I tried any function and all seems normal now. You saved me a bunch of money today. Thanks

But another question arises,
If I was to get a new phone, could I keep the old one to be used as the camera for my phoneskope and still be able to transfer pics off it to other devices.? Would it go through as emails?

I think this will work as long as you have wifi. And you can still download pictures off your phone through USB even without iTunes.

You could use your old phone through wifi, so yes email iMessage could transfer pics. You can also creat share photo albums with iPhones just have to creat a separate icloud log on. We use an old phone for our daughter to play her games take pics etc. You can also use airdrop between phones.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I let my grandson use my old I phones to take pics and make his own movies. Also use an old I phone to record conversations or phone calls that I want to save for future reference.

You can do that for sure. My youngest daughter has a old iphone4 (not the S) as well with no SIM card in it. Setup her own iCloud account under family sharing and she uses the iCloud photo stream and saves the pictures she wants and they come to all of our devices.
You could also setup iCloud app on a pc and then have the old iPhone save the pictures to that as well when it is on wifi.

You don't need wifi and can just AirDrop from device to device as well. Many ways to do it.

Airdrop is only available on iPhone 5 or later. iCloud might be easiest.
