Default Bushnell magnetic boresighter how does it work

just pick up one of these

how well do they work ??
so i just attach the boresighter to the end of the barrel get it to the approximate height of the scope, and set it ( don't have the chance to shoot the rifle yet, iam just in my garage trying to sight my new scope).....
i have another rifle that been sighted in the range, but it's seem to be off to the high right according to this boresighter

I personallly like the ones with the arbors....that way the boresighter is fixed...scope mount height does play a roll on elevation but with a fixed arbor in the barrel the windage is usually very close.

I have the very same one. They're "iffy", or 50/50. The arbour mounts are much better. I do use it as a starting point, but if I'm not on paper at 100, I immediately return to checking alignment by chambering an empty case and peeking thru the flash hole. The other problem with them is that sometimes the magnet isn't strong enough to hold on thin barrels, thus allowing it to roll over a bit.
