Its a restricted gun, lots of hoops to jump through. If it was non restricted and could be used anywhere outside a range I would have one for sure.

Thats wicked, they are nice rifles as well as the R25. I just wish they werent "scary" looking and some morons didnt think that guns kill people and that we could use them for hunting. One day, one day

So can someone tell me why these people in the gov't place this "long gun" on the restricted list?
It really doesnt seem any different from the Mini 14 or the SKS.
Both being semi auto rifles as well.
I've seen many tricked up .22s and other rifles that look a heck of alot more deadly, if cosmetics is the reason why it's restricted.

Because it's built on Stoners platform, and because it's black and scary looking.

Oh I know. It is the second restricted gun I have bought this year. They told the gentlemen at Bashaw it would be faxed over the next day. It wasn't, my bet is it will be sent to me via snail mail.

There is no logical explanation, but since when does the government use logic to operate?

Why would Remington have the R-15 made by DPMS when they own Bushmaster? You might wanna scrutinize the source of that info a bit deeper. I like getting to Bashaw, that stores full of character (and great inventory!)

That's how I ordered my handgun. No one had a price as low as Bashaw's. I went to a shop here in Red Deer the day before just to hold one before I made the trex to Bashaws. The tag was close to 900 more. And after being there for 20 mins and not being asked if I needed anything I left without even holding it.

I can't see myself going anywhere else now. The wife wants a Browning 1911 in .22 because it fits her hand well. It is cheaper on the Reg. at Bashaws then on sale where she first saw it in WCT.

I think Bashaw's prices are so low because that buildings probably been paid off since Diefenbaker was in office. Can you say low overhead? The only significant cost would be heating it.

Not sure what a stoners platform is, But rifles that are based off an AR platform are restricted. Guns like the CZ, SKS, Mozins, they are semiauto and can be built up to look a hell of alot scarier then a camo stock r15/r25. One must remember the AR platform kills people not nutjobs with guns

Eugene Stoner is the engineer that designed the AR platform.

I just got off Bashaw's website and was surprised at some of their great prices. Both the R-15 and R-25 come in under a grand, and they had both .243Win and 7-08 R-25's! Some great prices on various Rem 700 models as well.

That's why I got mine there, rifle, Burris Pepr mount and a scope for less then anyone else would sell me the rifle for.

That's the good news. Bad news is you can't shoot it without all the trouble of going to the range.

I live in Red Deer. I have to go to trouble to shoot any of my guns. And if I could just walk out my back door and shoot on my on land then well, that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Like others have said, it's too bad they're restricted rifles. They look like they would make a fantastic coyote rig!

You know what they say, anything enjoyable is either illegal, immoral, or fattening.

Indeed they would but you can't even legally shoot coyotes on your own farm or ranch and punching paper at the range just gets too boring. Or I would own a couple of them. Woodsmaster 243 at least you can take it out and tip over yotes.
