Default Bear hunting montana

So I'm heading down to montana late April maybe even May and have a spare 5 days and was thinking of grabbing a bear tag and heading off for an archery backpack hunt. I've never been to montana before and even though this is an alberta forum i was just wondering if anyone that's hunted down that way would give me any tips on a good area to start with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.cheers
Luke

might wanna check the Montana regs to make sure you don't need a guide first

You must apply before april 14, from what i can see no guide needed.
Just need to pass a bear identity test.

Yeah I have checked up on the regs and completed the bear identification. It doesn't say anywhere about needing a guide for non resident.

After looking at the pricing, I'd be more likely to look at the Turkey option. Then maybe the area you are going to does not have turkeys.
Would definitely be an adventure either route.
