Default I had a thought today

While I was at Halfords and looking at the lure fridge I wondered if anyone has ever tried any car airfreshners for lure? Sounds funny but you can get some perfume smelling ones that might work for lynx and I bet you could find a rasberry or strawberry smelling one for Marten. They are pretty strong smelling things. would be good in low temps if they actually work. Whatcha think?

I think it could work. I'm headed out tomorrow to set up the Marten line so I'll pick some up and give it a try. I'll let you know how I made out next week

Do you guys use a birds wing, or peice of cardboard attached to a string to flutter in the wind at your lynx sets? Guy I know swears by this.

I got some goose wings and some string and headed up to put a few lynx pens in. Got a few 330 boxes as well. I also am taking 3 coyote carcasses out and going to wire them to a tree with snares around to see what happens. We will see if it works on lynx and maybe get a wolf in as well if I can find the right spot for some snares

I'm sure this is old news to most of you, but I was talking to a trapper in B.C. who also owns a butcher shop and does all our big game there, and he swears that the absoultly best scent to use for coyotes and wolves is the tarsal glands from deer. Hang it out of reach and the dogs keep coming back.

Default Lure

Nube the previous trapper we bought our line from said he used strawberry jam sometime for marten. We tried it last year on a few marten boxes more as a joke. It actually worked as we caught a few. However Smukers is not cheap.

I've never heard of anyone trying that but who knows.
I know that ladies perfume has been tried and with some success.

At one time there were a few guys in this area that used Chanel No. 5 of trapping. I don't know it they used it as an additive to as a stand alone lure.

And old Billy Kirkness used to urinate on his Marten and Fisher traps.
He claimed it helped to attract more animals to his sets. We all thought he was goofy. LOL Actually we knew he was goofy, but then again, maybe it did work. For him.

Well yesterday I took the car air freshener out of my lynx pen and today I caught one.
But the peach one seem to work on Martin six days and still smells very strong.

Interesting. Maybe the scent was too strong with the freshener in place.
