Default Weatherby ammo question

I think the 87 gr. spire point bullets Wby. loads for the 257 mag. are Hornady Interlocks. Can someone confirm this? Also does anyone have any experience with these holding together at the advertised velocity of 3825 fps.? Thanks!

Default varmint or not

Talked to a fellow on here and he said that the Hornady book confirms that these are indeed varmint grade bullets. However, looking in the Wby. catalogue, it does say that they are Hornady Interlocks. Light? yes, but if Interlocks they may hold together. Anyway, best solely use them for varmints and still have the brass unless someone has first hand experience with their performance.

Actually....they are not true interlock bullets in the 87grain. They are a cup and core. Although when you buy them they come in an "inter-lock" box. Hornady does not make an "inter-lock" in that light a bullet, see below.

http://www.hornady.com/store/.257-25-CAL/

I went through the same thing for my .240WBY....no "inter-lock" under 100gr in an Alberta legal caliber.

http://www.hornady.com/store/6mm-.243-87-gr-SP/

Note in the description...says explosive even at low velocity. In the X-section of the bullet it clearly shows no "interlocking" ring.

Alright thanks lefty. That's why I was asking. I was a little suspicious. I got a real good deal on them at Cabela's due to their computer screw up. score
